First off all if I remember good (and I think I do) sapphires can be stacked to hold 250 in total, ICE however CAN'T be stocked like that you can't put 1 ice in the same spot as another one because the 2 just switch place.
The only scam possible is to sell one sapphire and giving you 1 ice instead. OK thats still a scam. They tried to scam me on multiple occasions, and only once they succeded (and the reason why is simply because I wanted to do it quickly - I was in a hurry). I learned from that experience you must ALWAYS check what you buy and what you get when your selling something. Scammers win because we are all to eager and don't check. (= If you buying a second used car for example: you'll check it has a motor, ... , not just the frame). Anyways REPORT scammers at Anet, and make people aware about scams. Learn them to be watchfull, you can do alot to make sure your not that easily scammed. And its not my intention to provoke anybody with my post here, just trying to say to everybody who reads this: WATCH YOUR TRADES CAREFULLY and your a long way for not being scammed. Ok now the question is if it's a quest item why do you have 250 of the cold ice or whatever they are called. Either to repeatably the quest over and over, or I smell a scammer.

basicly is: talk to the quest guy - receive the item - drop it - talk again - receive the item again - drop it again ---- in circles. i know anyone that sells something valuable usualy pays attention not to be scammbed, but why help scammers giving them the perfect opportunity to continue scamming? as i said, just change the skin and it's gone |

well everyone needs to just be more careful when they buy. i really don't understand how anyone can get scammed in this game. When you are guying something just point your arrow to it so you can see the text description. If they close the window and re-open then do it again. People have tried on me and none have succeeded cause i'm careful with my gold. Sometimes just sometimes you'll find scammers that are doing it just too see who they can trick , I've had 2 scammers give me the real item as a prize for not falling for it. Just be careful everyone...that extra 5 seconds can save you a lot of grief!

Geez...
Some people are so rude. Dav85 went out of his way to inform Anet about a problem that could hurt a lot of people. He also tried to (admittedly ineffectually) further protect people from this scam. He did not post to tell you about the scam like some implied. He posted to ask how to report it to the right people. The same evidence could also support a claim that he is also a scammer, but seriously guys. If there was ever a time to give someone the benefit of the doubt, this would qualify. Give the guy a break... |

Just as a note, it clearly states in the games terms & conditions that detailing exploits (for example, on forums) is ALSO against Anet's rules.
This particular problem unfortunately it was bound to happen sooner or later, there are a few items that look identical graphically. |

We also do have a "Scam thread" for all the scams new and old and those retelling their stories on how or what new scams are happening.
LAWL if you get scammed for more than 5 k thats freaking pathetic. Check your trades. |

The original question was where to report this, not a discussion of scams. The question's been answered, so closed.
